Early Life

Angee Gonzaléz is an American Afro-Latina singer-songwriter from Pittsburgh, PA, known for her soulful, angelic voice that blends R&B, soul, and neo-soul influences. She began singing at the tender age of 4, performing in church, school, and winning local talent shows. From her humble beginnings, Angee has carved out an inspiring journey against the backdrop of poverty and family dysfunction, with her passion for music serving as a source of hope and inspiration. Her resilient spirit has garnered her numerous awards and accolades, including winning Pittsburgh Idol, a Pittsburgh Hip Hop Award (Best Female Singer), and a second-place finish in Tom Joyner's "Big Break" competition. Angee has also had the honor of singing the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB) and The Steel City Yellow Jackets (ABA).

Acting and Entreprenuership

Angee's versatility doesn't stop at music; she has also taken on acting roles in stage productions like Shona Sharif's "Black Nativity", and more recently appeared in television projects by Lifetime, BET+, Bounce TV, and Tyler Perry Studios.

A serial entrepreneur, Angee founded Leaps and Laughs Party Rental Co. before venturing into fashion during the pandemic with her online boutique, LaLa's Closet ATL. She then broadened her reach with "The Pretty Purposeful Podcast" and Pretty Purposeful Events, LLC, a socially responsible event planning company aimed at serving non-profit and community-based organizations. Her most recent business venture is Diversity Drip, LLC, a brand designed to raise awareness of the complexities multiracial individuals experience, and to empower this growing demographic to embrace their unique identities.

Academic and Professional Career

Angee has taken several hiatuses from performing to focus on motherhood and education, ultimately relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2018 and completing her master's degree in Healthcare Administration, with a 4.0 GPA. This academic milestone not only reflects her dedication to personal and professional growth, but positions her as a role model in healthcare and beyond.

Advocacy AND Activism

In 2015, she founded VIP Movement, an initiative to empower at-risk youth, and intended to continue this work in Atlanta. However the lockdowns during the pandemic thwarted Angee's ability to transition this initiative to GA. She has since become a vocal advocate for social justice, mental health, and health equity, using her podcast and social media to raise awareness.  Her most recent advocacy effort is a groundbreaking petition to Amend the Civil Rights Act, focusing on the lack of protections for discrimination of multiracial individuals like herself. This initiative is a testament to her commitment to empowering marginalized communities and challenging systemic inequalities.
